He also always has back up plans in case of weather or operational issues. He has been the delivery captain for my Corsair F31R trimaran. He has delivered the boat to many ports from Cape Cod to the Chesapeake Bay. What has impressed me is his professionalism and communication with the owner. He updates status regularly. He proactively handles minor maintenance during delivery. Once during a Newport delivery, he managed to sail the boat to Jamestown without an engine, got a mooring, called a mechanic, and had repairs done for my arrival. I am writing this in order to highly recommend Captain Hess for any yacht delivery.
Captain Hess, upon his own judgment secured my sailboat before the impending hurricane (August
2020) while being prepared for transport to New Jersey. Following the storm, he also went and placed
all dock lines for normal docking, leaving the boat in fine condition.
Upon the boat yard completion of mechanical matters, Captain Hess proceeded to New Jersey with the
boat. Encountering a mechanical issue with regard to the prop, he had to cut off the engine and sail the
boat to Stamford, Ct. and put-in for repairs. Captain Hess over-saw the repairs as if the boat was his own
and once the repair was completed, he resumed his trip to New Jersey, keeping me informed every step
of the journey.Upon docking the boat at my residence, he left the boat neat and presentable, as if it was his own.
These days you can’t find people as conscientious as Captain Hess.
